بعد از مشکلات بحث‌برانگیز مربوط به دمای بالای اسنپدراگون ۸۱۰، همه نگران جایگزین آن یعنی اسنپدراگون ۸۲۰ بودند. اما خوشبختانه شواهد نشان می‌دهد که کوالکام موفق شده است به ترکیب طلایی، کنترل دما در کنار قدرت بالا و مصرف انرژی قابل قبول دست یابد.
مهم‌ترین دلیل برای کنترل دمای Snapdragon 820 مربوط به استفاده از ۴ هسته از نوع Kryo است که دمای پایین در کنار بازده‌ی مناسب ارائه می کنند.
پن جیوتنگ، تحلیل‌گر چینی اطلاعاتی درباره‌ی پردازنده‌ی بعدی کوالکام ارائه کرده است که نشان می‌دهند این پردازنده با نام مدلِ MSM8998 روانه بازار خواهد شد. این پردازنده همچنان از هسته‌های Kryo که در اسنپدراگون ۸۲۰ نیز استفاده شده، بهره می‌برد؛ اما این بار لیتوگرافی آن به ۱۰ نانومتر می‌رسد. این تراشه همچنین با مودم جدید X16 LTE مجتمع خواهد شد.
وی همچنین گفته است که بسیاری از پرچمداران امسال به پردازنده‌ی Snapdragon 652 با نام مدلِ MSM8976 مجهز خواهند شد. این پردازنده‌ی ۸ هسته‌ای به اندازه‌ی کافی، قوی است تا از پس نیازهای کاربران یک گوشی پرچمدار برآید.
پردازنده‌ی اسنپدراگون ۶۵۲ دارای ۴ هسته‌ی مبتنی بر معماری Cortex A72 و ۴ هسته‌ی مبتنی بر معماری Cortex A53 است. پردازنده‌ی گرافیکی مجتمع شده با این سیستم-روی-یک-چیپ نیز Adreno 510 است که جزو GPUهای قدرتمند بازار به شمار می‌رود. این پردازنده از مودم X8 LTE با پشتیبانی از Cat. 7 بهره می‌برد و قادر است اطلاعات را با نرخ ۳۰۰ مگابیت در ثانیه منتقل کند.

شیائومی در جریان برگزاری کنگره‌ی موبایل بارسلون، نسل جدید پرچمدار خود را پس از ۱۸ ماه معرفی کرد. پس از پایان یافتن نمایشگاه بارسلون، این کمپانی اقدام به ثبت نام برای فروش برق آسای می ۵ کرد که طی آن بیش از ۱۶.۸ میلیون نفر برای شرکت در این فروش ثبت نام کردند. حال پس از برگزاری اولین فروش برق آسای می ۵، به طور طبیعی بسیاری از ثبت نام کنندگان نتوانسته‌اند به گوشی هوشمند مورد نظر خود دست یابند که این موضوع نشان از بیشتر بودن تقاضا در مقایسه با تعداد می ۵ تولید شده است.
هرچند هنوز آماری از تعداد گوشی هوشمند به فروش رفته توسط شیائومی ارائه نشده، اما کارشناسان و تحلیل‌گران در شرق آسیا گمانه‌هایی را در این خصوص مطرح کردهاند. براساس اطلاعات ارائه شده شیائومی برای اولین فروش برق آسای خود بیش از ۴ میلیون گوشی هوشمند آماده کرده بوده که در مقایسه با ۱۶.۸ میلیون ثبت نام انجام شده، عدد بسیار کوچکی به نظر می‌رسد. البته هنوز نمی‌توان در مورد آمار ارائه شده با اطمینان سخن گفت.
بنابر گزارش‌های منتشر شده که برگرفته از منابع موجود در تایوان است، با توجه به تقاضای بالای موجود برای این گوشی هوشمند، شیائومی تقاضا برای تولید را نیز افزایش داده است. شنیده‌ها حکایت از این دارند که کمپانی چینی سفارش تولید خود به دو کمپانی فاکس‌کان و اینونتک را افزایش داده تا بتواند پاسخگوی نیاز بازار باشد. انتظار می‌رود با توجه به شرایط موجود، افرادی که ثبت نام کردهاند، بتوانند در ماه می یا آوریل سال جاری میلادی گوشی هوشمند می ۵ را دریافت کنند.
با توجه به عدم وجود می ۵ برای بازار داخلی، به نظر می‌رسد افرادی که در نظر دارند تا این محصول را در سایر بازارها مال خود کنند، باید مدت بیشتری را در انتظار باشند. شیائومی در چند ماه اخیر، زیرساخت مورد نیاز برای حضور در بازار‌های جدید را آماده کرده که منطقه‌ی خاورمیانه نیز یکی از همین بازارها است. باید دید که این کمپانی چگونه می‌تواند علاوه بر پاسخگویی به تقاضای داخلی، حضور در بازار‌های جدید را نیز تجربه کند.
